What is Rosewater?
Before heading on to the actual procedure of making rosewater, let me walk you through what it is actually. It is just rose petals infused in water. You can use both dried and fresh petals, so whatever is convenient for you, just go for it.
The Actual Procedure of Making Rosewater at Home
Get some organic, fresh roses from a market or any garden nearby and place them on a piece of cloth together. After that, take a bowl of water and one by one tear apart the petals and dip them all in that clean bowl filled with clean water. Rinse them all in the water to make sure they’re free of all the bugs and other irritants.
Once you’re done, drain the water and place the petals inside another clean container. Now add fresh water until the level that it covers the petals up. Cover the container with a lid and bring it to a light simmer. You need to check them again after a little while to see that they’ve lost their colour.
Leave them in the container for about an hour or two, so that they’re completely cooled off.
Now strain those rose petals out of the water in a clean bowl. You will notice how most of them have lost their colour.
Make sure you do not throw away the water you just took the petals out of because that right there is your rose water, guys!
Find a cute mason jar or a spray bottle to pour that all in, and, voila, you’re good to go!
